本课程是公共卫生专业的核心基础课，系统介绍流行病学的基本概念、原理和方法。内容涵盖疾病分布描述、常用流行病学研究方法（队列研究、病例对照研究、横断面研究、实验流行病学）、偏倚与混杂、因果推断、疾病监测以及突发公共卫生事件调查。通过案例分析和实践练习，培养学生运用流行病学思维解决公共卫生问题的能力。
This core course introduces fundamental concepts, principles, and methods of epidemiology. Topics include disease distribution, common study designs (cohort, case-control, cross-sectional, experimental), bias and confounding, causal inference, disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation. Through case studies and practical exercises, students develop epidemiological thinking and problem-solving skills in public health.

Students simulate a foodborne disease outbreak in a school cafeteria, applying epidemiological methods to investigate the incident. The assignment includes developing case definitions, conducting case searches, describing disease distribution by time, place, and person, generating hypotheses, conducting case-control studies, calculating relative risk and odds ratios, and writing an outbreak report with control measure recommendations.
