IB Geography is a two-year secondary geography course offered by IBO, available at both Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). The course is structured around geographic themes, geographic perspectives (the core), an HL extension on global interactions, and a fieldwork IA. SL students choose 2 of 7 themes plus 3 core perspectives; HL students choose 3 themes and add Paper 3 on global interactions. The course emphasizes human-environment relationships, spatial thinking, and sustainability — a key subject for geography, environment, urban planning, international development, and social science applicants.

Internal Assessment 内部评估 IA

The IB Geography IA is an individual fieldwork report worth 25% (SL) / 20% (HL) of the final grade. Students choose a geographical issue, collect primary data (surveys, measurements, observation, GIS), combine with secondary data, and produce a 2,500 word report covering introduction, method, analysis, conclusion, evaluation. Assessment criteria: fieldwork plan, method, data analysis, conclusion, evaluation, references and presentation. SL/HL share the same criteria; HL is expected to show deeper use of geographic concepts.
