IB Psychology is a two-year secondary psychology course offered by IBO, available at both Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). SL covers the three core approaches to behavior — biological, cognitive, and sociocultural — plus one Option from abnormal, developmental, health, or relationships psychology. HL extends each approach, requires two Options, and adds a Paper 3 on research methodology. The course emphasizes using empirical studies (classic experiments) to analyze behavior and develops research methods and ethical awareness. A key subject for psychology, neuroscience, education, social work, and HR applicants.

Internal Assessment 内部评估 IA

The IB Psychology IA is an individual experimental study worth 25% of the final grade for both SL and HL. Students replicate a published experiment (e.g., Stroop effect, Loftus experiments), collect and analyze data, and produce a 1,500-2,000 word report covering introduction, method, results, and discussion. Assessment criteria: introduction, method, results, discussion, references and presentation. HL is expected to demonstrate greater rigor in design, statistics, and discussion.
