This course explores human development from conception to death, covering physical, cognitive, and social-emotional domains across the lifespan. Topics include major developmental theories (Piaget, Vygotsky, Erikson), prenatal development and infancy, cognitive and social development in childhood, adolescent identity and peer relationships, adult developmental tasks, and aging and end-of-life psychology. The interaction of nature and nurture is emphasized throughout.

Students conduct at least two 40-minute observations of a child aged 3-12 and analyze the findings using Piaget's cognitive development stages or Vygotsky's zone of proximal development. The report includes participant background, observation method and procedure, observation records, theoretical analysis, and educational recommendations, approximately 2500 words.
