Exploration Phase (Grade 9-10) - Application Timeline

1. Overview 阶段概述

Grade 9 and 10 form the foundation of a competitive application. The goal is not to specialize early, but to build strong study habits, explore a wide range of subjects and activities, and start a transcript that shows consistent upward trajectory. 9-10 年级是申请地基：培养学习习惯、广度探索、稳住 GPA。

2. Academic Focus 学术重点

Maintain the highest GPA you can manage; grades from Grade 9 onward appear on your transcript. Choose a rigorous but sustainable course load and plan ahead for honors, AP, IB HL or A-Level tracks in later years. 保持好成绩，9 年级起的成绩都会进入成绩单，合理选课为后续高难度课程做准备。

Keep all core subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies, World Language) above B.
Plan a 4-year course map aligned with target school expectations.

Join clubs aligned with genuine curiosity, not perceived prestige.

Summers are a chance to deepen an interest without school pressure. Options include academic summer camps, language immersion, structured volunteer programs or a self-directed project. Avoid expensive "trophy" programs that do not match your real interests. 暑期用于深化兴趣：夏令营、语言沉浸、志愿者或自主项目，避免堆砌名头。

Grade 9 summer: explore a new subject area or attend a general camp.
