This course systematically introduces communication research methodology, building students' foundational research capabilities. Coverage includes research design, sampling methods, data collection, and statistical analysis, with emphasis on survey research, content analysis, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and experimental methods. Students learn the complete research process from question formulation and literature review to research design, data analysis, and report writing, developing scientific thinking and practical skills for theses and academic research.

步骤 2
研究工具开发与预测试
本步骤聚焦于开发具体的研究工具并进行预测试,确保研究工具的信度和效度。研究工具是数据收集的仪器,工具的质量直接决定了数据质量和研究结论的可靠性。通过严谨的工具开发和预测试,能发现并修正工具中的问题,为正式研究奠定坚实基础。

• 根据研究设计开发研究工具,如设计调查问卷(包括人口统计学变量、核心变量测量、量表选择)、访谈提纲、内容分析编码表等
• 进行文献检索和量表选择,选择经过验证的成熟量表或自行开发测量工具,确保测量工具具有良好的内容效度和构念效度
• 进行预测试(Pilot Study),选取小样本进行试测,检验研究工具的可行性和质量,根据预测试结果进行修改和完善

数据收集与质量控制
本步骤是研究的核心数据采集环节,按照研究设计执行正式的数据收集工作。高质量的数据是研究结论可靠的前提,需要严格遵循研究方案,确保数据收集过程的规范性和数据质量。同时要注意研究伦理,保护研究参与者的权益。

• 执行正式的数据收集,如发放问卷(线上平台如问卷星、SurveyMonkey,线下调查)、进行深度访谈、收集媒介内容样本等,确保样本量和抽样方法符合研究设计
• 实施质量控制措施,包括调查员培训、现场督导、数据录入双重录入、逻辑校验等,确保数据收集过程规范,减少系统误差和随机误差
• 遵守研究伦理规范,获得研究参与者知情同意,保护参与者隐私和数据安全,对敏感信息进行匿名化处理,确保研究符合伦理要求

本步骤是研究的核心分析环节,运用统计方法或质性分析方法对收集的数据进行系统分析,回答研究问题。数据分析需要根据研究设计和数据类型选择合适的分析方法,确保分析过程科学规范,结果解释合理可靠。好的分析不仅要呈现统计结果,更要解释其理论和实践意义。

• 进行数据分析,定量研究运用SPSS、R、Python等统计软件进行描述性统计、相关分析、回归分析、假设检验等;定性研究进行编码分析、主题分析、话语分析等
• 进行数据可视化,制作统计图表(柱状图、折线图、饼图、散点图、热力图等)直观呈现分析结果,图表规范清晰

• 撰写完整的研究报告,按照学术规范包括摘要、关键词、引言、文献综述、研究方法、研究结果、讨论、结论、参考文献、附录等部分
• 制作研究展示PPT,提炼研究的核心发现和主要结论,设计清晰的视觉呈现,准备口头汇报和答辩
• 整理研究档案,包括研究原始数据、分析代码、研究工具、各版本草稿等所有研究材料,建立完整的研究档案

Step 1
Research Questions & Research Design
The core task of this step is to determine research questions and conduct systematic research design, laying the methodological foundation for the entire research project. Good research begins with good questions; the clarity and value of research questions directly determine the quality and significance of the research. Rigorous research design ensures the research process is scientific and standardized, and research results are reliable and valid.

• Combine course content and personal interests to initially determine research direction, through exploratory reading and preliminary investigation, gradually focus to form specific research questions, write topic statement
• Clarify research paradigm and methodological foundation, select appropriate research methods according to research questions, such as questionnaire survey, content analysis, in-depth interview, focus group, experiment, case study, etc.
• Design research plan, clarify research subjects, sampling method, sample size, research variables, measurement tools, data collection procedures and analysis methods, write complete research proposal

Step 2
Research Instrument Development & Pilot Testing
This step focuses on developing specific research instruments and conducting pilot testing, ensuring the reliability and validity of research instruments. Research instruments are the tools for data collection; the quality of instruments directly determines data quality and reliability of research conclusions. Through rigorous instrument development and pilot testing, problems in instruments can be identified and corrected, laying a solid foundation for formal research.

• Develop research tools based on research design, such as designing survey questionnaires (including demographic variables, core variable measurement, scale selection), interview guides, content analysis coding schemes, etc.
• Conduct literature search and scale selection, select validated mature scales or self-develop measurement tools, ensure measurement tools have good content validity and construct validity
• Conduct Pilot Study, select small samples for trial testing,检验 feasibility and quality of research instruments, revise and improve based on pilot test results

Step 3
Data Collection & Quality Control
This step is the core data collection phase of the study, executing formal data collection according to the research design. High-quality data is the prerequisite for reliable research conclusions; it is necessary to strictly follow the research plan, ensuring standardization of the data collection process and data quality. Also pay attention to research ethics and protect the rights and interests of research participants.

• Execute formal data collection, such as distributing questionnaires (online platforms like Wenjuanxing, SurveyMonkey, offline surveys), conducting in-depth interviews, collecting media content samples, etc., ensure sample size and sampling methods meet research design
• Implement quality control measures including investigator training, on-site supervision, double data entry, logic verification, etc., ensure standardized data collection process, reduce systematic error and random error
• Comply with research ethics规范, obtain informed consent from research participants, protect participant privacy and data security, anonymize sensitive information, ensure research meets ethical requirements

Step 4
Data Analysis & Results Presentation
This step is the core analysis phase of the study, systematically analyzing collected data using statistical methods or qualitative analysis methods to answer research questions. Data analysis needs to select appropriate analytical methods according to research design and data type, ensuring scientific and standardized analysis process and reasonable and reliable result interpretation. Good analysis should not only present statistical results but also explain their theoretical and practical significance.

• Conduct data analysis, quantitative research uses statistical software such as SPSS, R, Python for descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, etc.; qualitative research conducts coding analysis, thematic analysis, discourse analysis, etc.
• Perform data visualization, create statistical charts (bar charts, line charts, pie charts, scatter plots, heatmaps, etc.) to intuitively present analysis results, with standardized and clear charts
• Interpret analysis results,结合 research questions and theoretical framework, conduct in-depth interpretation of statistical results or qualitative findings, answer research questions, discuss theoretical significance and practical implications of results

Step 5
Research Report Writing &成果demonstrate
This step is the concluding phase of the study, organizing the research process and results into a standardized research report and presenting the results. The research report is the concentrated embodiment of research results, requiring complete structure, clear logic, and standardized expression. Result presentation is an important part of academic communication, which can exercise academic expression ability and obtain feedback to improve research.

• Write complete research report, according to academic standards including abstract, keywords, introduction, literature review, research methods, research results, discussion, conclusion, references, appendix, etc.
• Create research presentation PPT, extract core findings and main conclusions of the study, design clear visual presentation, prepare oral presentation and defense
• Organize research archive, including all research materials such as raw data, analysis code, research tools, various draft versions, establish complete research archive
