Steps
Step 1
2D Composition Basic Training
The core task of this step is to learn and master the basic principles and formal laws of 2D composition, training abstract modeling ability and formal aesthetic sense. 2D composition is the basic language of design, studying the organizational rules and composition methods of basic elements such as points, lines, and planes. Through systematic basic training, establish a sense of form and order in design, cultivate visual thinking ability.
• Perform 2D composition basic training, starting from basic forms of points, lines, planes, practice repetition, gradation, emission, contrast, density, special composition and other basic composition forms
• Learn formal beauty laws, including symmetry and balance, contrast and unity, rhythm and rhyme, proportion and scale, change and unity, etc., understand laws and principles of beauty
• Analyze composition laws in excellent design cases, deconstruct composition methods and formal language of classic design works, learn composition techniques from master works
Deliverable: 2D composition portfolio (including point/line/plane exercises, composition form exercises, formal beauty analysis, exercise insights) | Quality standard: Thorough understanding of composition principles, strong sense of picture order, outstanding formal beauty
Step 2
Color Composition Basic Training
This step focuses on learning and training of color composition, mastering basic properties and organizational laws of color. Color is the most expressive visual element in design, directly affecting viewer's emotion and psychological feeling. Through systematic color exercises, establish scientific color cognition, cultivate color sense and color matching ability.
• Perform color composition basic training, practice changes and combinations of three elements of color (hue, lightness, purity), including hue progression, value progression, purity progression, color mixing and other basic exercises
• Learn color contrast and harmony principles, practice hue contrast, value contrast, purity contrast, cold-warm contrast, complementary color contrast and different types of color contrast, as well as various harmony methods
• Conduct color emotion and psychology training, practice color matching expression of different emotional tones, such as enthusiasm, calmness, elegance, vitality, technology, tradition and different styles of color expression
Deliverable: Color composition portfolio (including color element exercises, contrast and harmony exercises, color emotion exercises, exercise insights) | Quality standard: Solid mastery of color theory, harmonious and beautiful color matching, strong color expressiveness
Step 3
3D Composition Basic Training
This step enters 3D space modeling training, learning basic principles and methods of three-dimensional composition. 3D composition studies the combination, structure, material and spatial relationship of forms in three-dimensional space, and is an important way to cultivate spatial thinking and 3D modeling ability. Through expansion from 2D to 3D, establish complete design modeling foundation.
• Learn basic theory of 3D composition, including basic concepts such as volume, space, material, structure, light and shadow, understand basic laws and aesthetic principles of 3D modeling
• Perform basic 3D composition exercises, including line material composition, surface material composition, block material composition, practice cumulative composition, cutting composition, combined composition and other basic modeling methods
• Explore expressive power of different materials, use various materials such as cardboard, wood board, metal wire, clay for 3D modeling, experience relationship between material characteristics and modeling language
Deliverable: 3D composition portfolio (including theory study, 3D modeling exercises, material experiments, creative insights) | Quality standard: Rich spatial imagination, strong modeling ability, creative material application
Step 4
Comprehensive Composition Design Creation
This step comprehensively applies knowledge of the three major compositions to complete a complete design project. Comprehensive creation is an important part of testing learning outcomes, requiring organic integration of 2D, color, and 3D composition knowledge, using formal beauty laws for complete design expression. Through comprehensive project practice, establish systematic design thinking.
• Choose a specific design theme (such as thematic poster design, book binding design, brand visual design, etc.), conduct complete design project practice, from research analysis, concept development to design execution full process participation
• Comprehensively apply three major composition knowledge, flexibly use formal laws of 2D composition, color matching skills of color composition, spatial thinking of 3D composition in design, make design have solid formal foundation
• Conduct multi-scheme comparison and iterative optimization, from concept sketches to final product, after multiple rounds of screening and improvement, continuously提升 design completion and quality
Deliverable: Comprehensive design portfolio (including theme design project, process drafts, final product, design explanation) | Quality standard: Clear design concept, flexible application of composition knowledge, high completion and quality
Step 5
Portfolio Organization & Learning Reflection
This step is the summary phase of basic design learning, systematically organizing learning outcomes and conducting in-depth learning reflection. Organizing portfolio is not only presentation of learning outcomes but also sorting and reviewing of learning process. Through reflective summary, identify strengths and weaknesses, clarify direction for subsequent learning and improvement.
• Organize all exercises and design works, categorize and arrange according to learning progress and type, design and produce personal portfolio, demonstrate learning outcomes and design ability
• Write learning insights and reflection summary, review gains and experiences during the entire learning process, analyze own advantages and disadvantages in various aspects of three major compositions
• Develop subsequent learning plan, clarify improvement goals and paths in design theory, software skills, creativity and other aspects, lay a more solid foundation for professional study
Deliverable: Design basics portfolio (including complete portfolio, learning reflection, subsequent learning plan) | Quality standard: Complete and standardized portfolio, profound and insightful reflection, clear and feasible learning plan
