Steps
Step 1
Project Research & Brand Analysis
The core task of this step is to deeply understand brand background and design requirements, laying strategic foundation for graphic design projects. Graphic design is not pure artistic creation, but visual solution to specific communication problems. Through systematic research and analysis, accurately grasp design goals, audience characteristics and brand tone, ensuring correct and effective design direction.
• Collect brand materials including brand history, corporate culture, products and services, target market, competitor situation, etc., conduct comprehensive brand analysis and SWOT analysis
• Clarify design requirements and goals, including design purpose, communication scenarios, target audience, expected effects, timeline and budget, write Design Brief
• Conduct competitor visual analysis and reference case collection, study expression techniques and visual styles of similar designs, find differentiated design opportunities
Deliverable: Design research brief (including brand analysis, requirement sorting, competitor research, reference cases) | Quality standard: Comprehensive and in-depth research, accurate requirement grasp, clear and definite direction
Step 2
Creative Concept & Visual Exploration
This step is the creative development phase of graphic design, transitioning from strategic thinking to visual expression, exploring multiple design directions and visual possibilities. Good creativity is the key to successful design, requiring breaking conventional thinking, exploring unique and effective visual solutions. Through multi-directional concept exploration and sketch experimentation, find the visual language that best conveys design goals.
• Use creative methods such as brainstorming, mind mapping, associative thinking, around design theme and core message, generate multiple creative directions and concept ideas
• Conduct visual style exploration, experiment with different visual expressions from dimensions of layout, color, graphics, typography, materials, etc., producenumerous design sketches and style drafts
• Evaluate design proposals from dimensions of creativity, effectiveness, uniqueness, executability, etc., screen 3-5 promising directions for deepened design
Deliverable: Creative concept drafts (including creative sketches, style exploration drafts, design concept explanation) | Quality standard: Rich and diverse creativity, sufficient visual exploration, original concepts
Step 3
Design Deepening & Visual Refinement
This step deepens and refines the selected design direction, creating high-quality design final products. Design deepening requires careful polishing of every detail, including layout composition, color matching, font selection, graphic processing, hierarchical relationships, etc. The attitude of striving for excellence is the embodiment of professional design.
• Refine typography design, use Grid System to establish sense of order, handle image-text relationships, information hierarchy, white space, ensure visual balance and reading fluency
• Optimize color and font system, determine primary and auxiliary color matching, select appropriate font combinations (headline font, body font), establish unified visual specifications
• Refine graphic and image elements, perform image processing, icon drawing, illustration design, etc., ensure quality and style consistency of all visual elements
Deliverable: Detailed design drafts (including refined design drafts, layout specifications, color and font system) | Quality standard: Exquisite and professional design, precise detail processing, high visual quality
Step 4
Application Extension & System Specifications
This step extends core design to different application scenarios and size specifications, establishing a complete design system. Graphic design often needs to adapt to multiple media and sizes, from posters and brochures to social media and web banners. Systematic design specifications ensure visual consistency and brand unity across different application scenarios.
• Perform design extension for multiple sizes and formats, including adaptation designs of different proportions, different sizes, different media, ensure design performs well in various specifications
• Establish design specifications and usage guidelines, including logo usage specifications, color specifications, font specifications, layout specifications, element combination specifications, etc., ensure design consistency
• Design supporting materials and derivative applications such as business cards, letterhead, PPT templates, social media templates, etc., form complete design material system
Deliverable: Design system and application specifications (including multi-size design drafts, design specification manual, supporting material design) | Quality standard: Rich application scenarios, complete system specifications, highly unified vision
Step 5
Output Production & Delivery Organization
This step is the concluding phase of the design project, performing final output production and file organization, ensuring design can be accurately implemented. Design output needs to consider technical requirements of different media, such as printing, screen display, large format printing, etc. Standardized and complete file delivery is the basic literacy of professional designers.
• Perform pre-press inspection and output preparation, check file resolution, color mode, bleed, crop marks, imposition, etc., ensure files meet printing requirements
• Output design files in different formats, including source files (AI/PSD/INDD), preview files (PDF/JPG/PNG), printing files (CMYK PDF), web images (RGB 72dpi), etc.
• Organize design delivery package, organize all design files according to standardized file structure, attach design description and usage guide, facilitate client understanding and use
Deliverable: Design delivery final product (including design source files, various format output files, design explanation document) | Quality standard: Standardized and complete files, accurate and error-free output, professional and orderly delivery
