This core theory course systematically examines the historical development of Western and Eastern art. Covering prehistoric, ancient, medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical, Romantic, Impressionist, modernist, and contemporary periods, the course also introduces Chinese, Japanese, and Indian artistic traditions. Through in-depth analysis of representative artists, works, and movements, students build a comprehensive art historical framework. The course emphasizes visual analysis and art criticism methods.
