• Systematically study color theory knowledge, including three elements of color (hue, value, saturation), color mixing, color contrast and harmony, color psychology, color symbolism and other core content
• Conduct color inspiration collection and research, draw color inspiration from natural landscapes, master works, photographic works, daily life, establish inspiration library and color notes
• Analyze color application characteristics of different schools of artists, study color language and expression techniques of Impressionism, Expressionism, Fauvism and other schools, summarize color expression laws

This step focuses on determining creation theme and color concept, clarifying direction and goal of creation. Good color-themed creation requires clear concept and emotional expression, not just color accumulation. Through in-depth thinking and conceptualization, endow color creation with ideological connotation and artistic appeal.

• Determine color creation theme, choose a specific emotion, concept or scene as creation theme, such as four seasons, emotions, city, nature, dreams, etc., clarify core concept of creation
• Conceive color concept and expression method, think about how to express theme with color language, determine overall color structure such as main tone, color emotion, color rhythm, color contrast relationship
• Draw small color drafts and color sketches, quickly try various color schemes and composition methods, explore various possibilities of color matching, screen the best scheme

This step masters various color expression methods and techniques through systematic color composition experiments and technique practice. Color expression techniques are rich and diverse; different techniques produce different visual effects and emotional expressions. Through solid technique practice, accumulate rich color expression language, reserve technical ability for formal creation.

• Conduct basic color composition experiments, including monochromatic exercise, analogous color exercise, contrast color exercise, complementary color exercise, cold-warm contrast exercise, color value gradient and other systematic exercises
• Explore color expression of different materials and techniques, such as watercolor, acrylic, oil painting, pastel, collage, digital painting, etc., experience color characteristics and expression effects of different media
• Study special color effects and texture expression, such as color superposition, transparent color layers, dry brush, wet-on-wet, salt sprinkling, scraping and other special techniques, enrich color expression language

This step is the core practical phase of color creation, implementing color concepts and techniques into complete artistic works. • Create color theme series works, create 3-5 series works around selected theme, each work explores theme from different angles and expression techniques, form complete color narrative

This step is the concluding phase of color theme creation, systematically organizing works and writing color research report. Organizing portfolio is not only presentation of results but also review and reflection on the entire learning and creation process. • Organize all exercises and creative works, categorize according to learning progress and creation series, produce personal color portfolio,demonstrate color learning and creation achievements
