Steps
Step 1
Ability Assessment & Training Program Design
The core task of this step is to assess current solfeggio and ear training level and design a systematic training program. Solfeggio and ear training are foundational abilities for music learners, requiring targeted and gradual training for effective improvement. Through scientific assessment to understand one's advantages and disadvantages, and formulating a reasonable training plan, is the prerequisite for efficiently improving solfeggio and ear training abilities.
• Conduct solfeggio and ear training ability assessment, test current level in pitch sense, rhythm sense, harmonic aural discrimination, melodic memory, sight-singing, etc., find weak links and advantageous items
• Learn training theories and methods of solfeggio and ear training, understand scientific training methods for intervals, chords, rhythm, melody, modes and other training content, master correct practice essentials and progression paths
• Develop personalized training program, according to assessment results and learning goals, design progressive training plan, arrange training content, difficulty progression, practice frequency and time allocation of each module
Deliverable: Assessment report and training program (including ability assessment, training plan, method guide) | Quality standard: Accurate and objective assessment, scientific and feasible plan
Step 2
Interval & Chord Aural Training
This step focuses on auditory training of intervals and chords, building harmonic auditory perception ability. Intervals and chords are the basic constituent elements of polyphonic music; accurately distinguishing the quality, function and color of intervals and chords is the foundation of understanding music. Through systematic training, cultivate inner hearing and harmonic perception ability.
• Conduct interval aural training, practice aural discrimination of various diatonic and chromatic intervals, including interval quality identification (major/minor, augmented/diminished, perfect), interval distance judgment, interval progression dictation, build auditory impression and concept of intervals
• Conduct chord aural training, practice root position and inversion aural discrimination of triads and seventh chords, identify quality, function, color of chords, practice dictation of chord progressions, understand functional progression logic of harmony
• Use both movable-do thinking and fixed-do thinking methods for training, establish modal scale degree sense and absolute pitch sense, combine with keyboard instrument auxiliary practice, strengthen harmonic hearing and inner pitch sense
Deliverable: Interval and chord training records (including practice records, aural discrimination tests, progress analysis) | Quality standard: High accuracy in interval/chord aural discrimination, solid auditory memory
Step 3
Rhythm & Melodic Dictation Training
This step is the core training phase of solfeggio and ear training, conducting rhythm aural discrimination and melodic dictation training. Rhythm is the skeleton of music, and melody is the soul of music; accurately capturing and recording rhythm and melody is the basic skill of musicians. through progressive training from shallow to deep, comprehensively improve musical auditory memory and recording ability.
• Conduct rhythm aural discrimination and dictation training, from monophonic rhythm to polyphonic rhythm, from simple meter to complex meter, practice aural discrimination and dictation of various rhythmic patterns (syncopation, dotted notes, triplets, rests, etc.), establish stable inner sense of beat
• Conduct melodic dictation training, from short motives to complete phrases, from monophonic to two-voice, practice melodic dictation of different modes, different styles, train melodic memory and pitch perception ability
• Conduct mode/tonality aural training, practice identifying major and minor modes, folk modes, church modes and different modal colors, able to judge mode/tonality and modulation of music through hearing
Deliverable: Rhythm and melody training set (including rhythm exercises, melodic dictation, mode aural training) | Quality standard: High dictation accuracy, stable beat, good melodic memory
Step 4
Sight-Singing & Musical Expression Training
This step transforms auditory ability into singing practice, conducting sight-singing and musical expression training. Sight-singing is the outputphase of solfeggio and ear training; not only must pitch and rhythm be sung accurately, but also musical expressiveness is required. Through systematic sight-singing training, improve score-reading ability, pitch control and musical expression ability.
• Conduct monophonic sight-singing training, practice sight-singing repertoire of different modes, different meters, different difficulty levels, train rapid score-reading ability and accurate pitch/rhythm control, achieve sing-at-sight accurately and fluently
• Conduct two-voice and multi-voice sight-singing training, practice canonic sight-singing, two-voice contrapuntal sight-singing, cultivate polyphonic hearing and cooperative ability, experience voice relationships and harmonic effects of polyphonic music
• Conduct musical expression training, on the basis of accurate pitch and rhythm, learn to handle musical expression elements such as tempo, dynamics, timbre, phrasing, endow sight-singing with musicality and artistic appeal
Deliverable: Sight-singing training and recordings (including sight-singing repertoire, recording assignments, expression evaluation) | Quality standard: Accurate pitch and rhythm, fluent sight-singing, musical expressiveness
Step 5
Comprehensive Test & Training System Summary
This step is the comprehensive test and summary phase of solfeggio and ear training learning, conducting comprehensive testing and systematic training summary. Through comprehensive testing to verify learning outcomes; through summarizing and sorting to systematize training methods, forming training methods that can be used long-term and paths for continuous improvement.
• Conduct comprehensive dictation test, complete a complete solfeggio dictation test paper, including intervals, chords, rhythm, melody, two-voice dictation and other content, test comprehensive auditory ability
• Conduct sight-singing examination, randomly draw sight-singing repertoire for sight-singing on site, evaluate sight-reading speed, pitch rhythm, musical expression and other aspects of level, test improvement of sight-singing ability
• Summarize training system and methods, organize and summarize training methods and experiences of each module, formulate subsequent advanced training plan, establish sustainable self-training system for solfeggio and ear training
Deliverable: Comprehensive test and training summary (including test scores, training summary, subsequent plan) | Quality standard: Obvious comprehensive ability improvement, complete training system, feasible follow-up plan
