IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606) is an advanced CAIE course above IGCSE Mathematics 0580, intended for mathematically strong students preparing for A-Level Further Mathematics or IB Mathematics HL. It introduces calculus, vectors, series, permutations and combinations, and binomial expansions, bridging 0580 and A-Level Mathematics 9709. There is no Core/Extended tier; all candidates sit the same papers.

Core vs Extended Core 与 Extended 区分

0606 不分档，全员同卷，难度高于 0580 Extended，覆盖 A-Level P1 约 60-70%。

ExtNote: Additional Mathematics (0606) has no Core/Extended tier; all candidates sit the same papers, uniformly above IGCSE Maths Extended in difficulty. In other words, all 16 topics in 0606 are at Extended level, with content depth comparable to the early stages of A-Level AS Mathematics (CAIE 9709 P1).

Compared with IGCSE Maths 0580 Extended, 0606 adds A-Level-style algebra and analysis including calculus (differentiation and definite integration), binomial theorem with permutations and combinations, arithmetic and geometric series, radian measure, factor and remainder theorems, and logarithmic and exponential functions. After completing 0606, students enter A-Level Mathematics already covering approximately 60-70% of Pure Mathematics 1 (P1).

After completing IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606, students hold a clear advantage in A-Level Mathematics (CAIE 9709) Pure Mathematics 1 (P1) and Mechanics 1 (M1), and may progress directly to A-Level Further Mathematics (9231) or IB Mathematics HL (Analysis and Approaches AA). 0606 is a strong differentiator for applicants to mathematics, physics, engineering, economics and computer science programmes. Students targeting G5 or equivalent top universities for STEM are advised to complete both 0580 Extended and 0606 in Year 11, to enable smooth progression to A-Level Further Maths or IB HL in Year 12.
