United States History
本课程系统讲授美国从殖民时期至今的历史发展，包括殖民时代、独立战争、宪法制定、西进运动、南北战争、工业化与进步主义、新政、二战、民权运动、冷战及当代美国社会。学生将深入理解美国政治制度、社会结构、文化传统的形成与演变，以及美国在世界历史中的地位。
This course provides a systematic survey of American history from the colonial era to the present, including colonization, the Revolutionary War, constitutional founding, westward expansion, the Civil War, industrialization and progressivism, the New Deal, World War II, the civil rights movement, the Cold War, and contemporary American society. Students will gain a deep understanding of American political institutions, social structure, cultural traditions, and America's role in world history.
学生自选一个美国史专题（如民权运动、西进运动中的印第安人政策、大萧条与新政、冷战时期的外交政策等），利用原始史料和学术研究成果进行分析，撰写一篇约3500字的研究论文。要求提出独到的问题意识，运用一手史料支撑论点，体现对美国史学研究现状的了解。
Students choose a topic in American history (such as the civil rights movement, Native American policies during westward expansion, the Great Depression and New Deal, or Cold War foreign policy), analyze it using primary sources and scholarly research, and write a 3500-word research paper. The paper should demonstrate original inquiry, use of primary sources, and familiarity with current historiographical debates.
